The site is a converted Victorian
warehouse which is now occupied by over 30 companies. Our customer runs a 400
seat call centre on the third floor here. Because outside
space is at a premium, the initial idea was to site the generator on a flat roof.
It was only during the survey for the crane that we discovered a rather damp cellar
adjacent to an underground car park. After some cost comparison, this worked
out to be the cheaper option. Once we were given the go ahead, we installed an air inlet attenuator, and exhaust duct, and used the cellar door for the cooling air to escape through. The generator is 150kVA unit and is housed in a weatherproof, soundproof canopy.. Normally for inside
applications an open set would be used. In this case, because of the damp cold
conditions of the cellar plus the open access from the doorway, it was decided to that this configuration would be
more suitable.. We also installed approximately 180m of cabling from the changeover panel which was sited on the third floor adjacent to the power supply, down to the generator. The work took approximately one month to complete. |
Generator installed with ducting connecting the generator cooling air inlet to the attenuator.
